Hinterhoeller Niagara 35 Mk1
Hinterhoeller build quality and 6'4" headroom in a 35-footer that crosses oceans, if the balsa core passes.

Best for: A tall sailor who values build quality over speed and will pay for a proper core survey.
The good
- Three separate listings put headroom at 6'4"; Mark Ellis design, Hinterhoeller construction.
- 80 gal of water is the second-best tankage in the tall section.
- D/L 329, CSF 1.90, SA/D 16.5: a well-mannered, properly canvassed cruiser.
The bad
- Balsa-cored hull and deck on a 1982 boat: moisture meter and a cored-hull surveyor before anything else.
- Spade rudder; we prefer a skeg for windvane work.
- 30 gal of fuel is thin, and it is in BC.
The Niagara 35 is a better-built Islander 36 with more water and less fuel. The entire buy decision is the core survey; if it is dry, this is one of the nicest boats in the article.
